Escaflowne: A Girl in Gaea

Tenku no Escaflowne may be one of the best Anime ever made (considering it was only a serie, not a movie) with characters that don't seem too commercial (and sexy and such. Girls' sexiness attract so much of people, to prove that many people are pervert in Japan =P ).

But then the movie came. People love Escaflowne so much. We want to see more damnit!! So they all went to see the new movie.

But the horror! You are seeing that the characters design aren't the same at all... Noo! Look at their noses! They are smaller! Plus, you notice that the non-commercial girls are now... Wearing those ultra hyper sexy things on them! Screw the company Sunrise for doing that! And... also notice that most of second-main characters that were in the series don't play such role in the movie. Merle, everyone's favorite Cat girl, could be taken out from the movie without changing the story. Same for our two leopard bishoujos who only sing in a dark dark Bar in a dark city.

It's like the characters in the movie aren't the same people at all from the series.. They just have the looks and the names of the characters' serie.

The story is a bit too simple. Van's goal is to kill his brother Folken, the ultimate king of the other kingdom, responsible for Van's kingdom's total destruction. Unfortunately, for Folken's fanatics, Folken doesn't really have a story behind him. He is just evil, that's all.

And what's with Hitomi being the Goddess of..Wings? (I dun remember.. I think it's that) And why did she want to suicide? Maybe she thinks she is lonely, but that's just plain stupid. She is lonely and she has a best friend on Earth. I dun see why she thinks she is lonely.

Though the bad comments I gave for this movie, I think the movie is still worth a look. Escaflowne fans may be deceived by the movie, but people who never watched the series may like this movie. We will see... O_O
